Volunteer With Us!

We provide several ways to get involved in the local climate movement. Continue reading to learn more.

Sunday Brunch Farmers’ Market

We have a table every week at the Sunday Brunch Farmers’ Market at the Charleston Pour House on James Island, where we facilitate compost collection and talk with attendees about local issues impacting the climate.

Dominion Campaign

We’re doing everything we can to push back against Dominion Energy and Santee Cooper’s proposal to build a 2,200 Megawatt methane gas plant near the Edisto River in Canady’s, SC. We’re organizing creative events, canvassing, and protesting, among other things!

Gardening

We install and manage demonstration rain gardens as part of our Lowcountry Climate Solutions Lab initiative. These serve to raise awareness of rain gardens as a DIY water management solution that can play an important role in reducing flooding and its harmful impacts. Additionally, they support pollination in urban and suburban landscapes, and help these spaces look nice.

We also manage a food forest of 22 fruit trees on Drake Street in the Eastside, to promote climate-friendly food production, inspire others to grow food in urban and suburban areas, and provide a source of fresh, free nourishment for residents. Located near the site of the twin smokestacks, this food forest is intended to reclaim this area of land for environmentally-friendly purposes.

Get in touch with nature by helping us plant, maintain, and water the gardens!
